SPEAK UP! Human Trafficking Resources

This is a tough topic. But it needs to be addressed. I know it’s uncomfortable to talk about but the least we can do is bring awareness, educate, expose these predators and most importantly SAVE THESE HUMAN BEINGS!

I’m sad. I’m disgusted. I’m angry. I’m in complete shock the LACK of knowledge people have (including myself) regarding human trafficking. It’s talked about, but only briefly. Statistics are throw out, but only briefly. The mainstream media talks about but only under their agenda (I could get more into that but I want to focus on HOW WE can SAVE these children, women and men).

First, let’s start with numbers. *the first statistic listed is suppose to read 3.8 million (I apologize for any confusion)

If you want to see more numbers check out: International Labour Organization, US Department of State & National Human Trafficking Hotline

There are so many wonderful organizations that you can get involved with to help end human trafficking, bring awareness, educate and expose these predators. One of the bullets listed above states traffickers prey upon children in the foster care system.

Foster Care

Did you know? 60% of all child sex trafficking victims have histories in the child welfare system (National Foster Youth Institute).

Click here to see facts & figures of how foster youth are affected by human trafficking.

Sadly, our foster system is badly broken! How can you help? Raise awareness of the threat that trafficking poses for foster children in the U.S.

Want to take action? Click here to see how you can help within the foster care system. Here is a list of Foster Care Organizations.

Sex Trafficking Organizations/Resources

Operation Underground Railroad

This organization recuses children from slavery. In the past 6 years, O.U.R. has rescued 3,800 victims and assisted in the arrests of more than 2,099 traffickers around the world. The partners they are empowering have collectively help rescue the live of more than 10,000 survivors who were enslaved, exploited or at risk.

One reason O.U.R. is awesome is they have a FREE training course where you can learn the signs to recognize human trafficking victims.

National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC)

NSVRC’s mission is to provide leadership in preventing and responding to sexual violence through collaboration, sharing and creating resources, and promoting research.

Another great resource for statistics and facts regarding sexual assault. View sexual assault statistics here.

They are a nonprofit organization fueled by radical hope that human beings everywhere will be rescued from bondage and completely restored. They are the abolitionists of the 21st century. They work with you to free slaves and disrupt the demand.

They have a great page for human trafficking statistics and facts. They break down the types of human trafficking, how they’re trafficked and signs of human trafficking. View this here.

International Justice Mission (IJM)

They focus on 3 main things: bringing criminals to justice, strengthening justice systems and rescuing and restoring victims.

They are amazing stories of rescue and evidence of there solution. Read those here.

Hope for Justice

“We exist to bring an end to modern slavery by preventing exploitation, rescuing victims, restoring lives, and reforming society”.

They have a great page to spot the signs of human trafficking. View this here.

Exodus Cry

Exodus Cry is committed to abolishing sex trafficking and breaking the cycle of commercial sexual exploitation while assisting and empowering its victims.

They have a great page to understand what human trafficking is. View this here.

Thank you for taking the time to read, educate, raise awareness and donate to end human trafficking. You may be thinking how is this going to help? Well this is a start to raise awareness and I’m ready to SPEAK UP!
